Outpatient Services Include:
- Chemotherapy and Support Therapy Services
- Comprehensive Diagnostic Imaging- Services include PET/CT Scan, ultrasound, X-ray, CT Scan, MRI, mammography with stereotactic breast biopsy and Nuclear Medicine.
- St. Anthony's is proud to offer the most powerful breakthrough in diagnosis, staging and treatment monitoring of cancer - the Siemens 16-slice PET/CT unit.
Inpatient Cancer Care Services:
St. Anthony's Hospital offers an inpatient oncology unit and an outpatient Cancer Center to meet all of our patients' needs. Comprehensive Inpatient and Outpatient Services Include:
- 20-bed Oncology Unit
- Oncology-Certified Nurses
- Pathology and Cytology Laboratory Services - Lab tests include immunoperoxidase stains, fine needle aspiration biopsies, as well as standard microscopic analysis of tissue and body fluids by board certified pathologists
- Comprehensive Surgical Services - Services include an inpatient and outpatient surgical program.
- Cutting-edge Procedures- The latest diagnostic and therapeutic treatments, including Lymphoscintigraphy, Sentinel Node Biopsy for breast cancer, Conformal Therapy for prostate cancer and Stem Cell Therapy
- Radiation Therapy Centers -Top-quality radiation therapy on an inpatient and outpatient basis with linear accelerators providing external photon and electron treatment, and five board-certified radiation oncologists overseeing care
- Home Health Care - Home health care for recovering, disabled, chronically, and/or terminally ill persons
- St. Anthony's Cancer Registry - Develops and provides a comprehensive database of cancer patient information. This information is provided to physicians and administration for analysis of hospital performance regarding care of the cancer patient, to the National Cancer Data Base for compilation of national statistics, to the Florida Cancer Data System, to the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer, and to cancer patients and other cancer registries.
The patient care team includes physicians, certified oncology nurses, social workers, psychologists, pastoral care, physical, occupational and speech therapists, dietitians and pain management specialists.
Ethical & Compassionate Care
St. Anthony's ethics committee meets regularly to discuss patient care. Members include physicians, health care professionals, hospital management and community members.
Patients with advanced directives are assured that withholding extraordinary treatment means no aggressive therapy, only palliative care to keep patients comfortable and pain-free. Close affiliation with the Hospice of Florida Suncoast enables patients to receive Hospice support as needed.
